As a bit of background The Charity Shopping Site is operated by Blacksnow Internet Services Ltd., which is a company owned by Mike & Chris Mortimer.

Mike, a recently retired engineer, has been involved with charity fundraising for many years and has been a director of Hope House Children’s Respite Hospice since its conception in 1991. He was Chairman during the building phase, resigning as Chairman to become an ‘ordinary’ board member, when the doors opened to the first children in 1995. He has been on the board of the main charity ever since and is also a board member of Hope House Trading and Hope House Lottery.

Chris, his son, has been a computer programmer since leaving University in 1996, having had quite diverse experience from designing a major software program for a local authority to production of web pages for companies and individuals. Between them they bring a great deal of experience to this project.

The idea of the The Charity Shopping Site is a very simple one. I’m sure you know many people who shop on the internet. Did you know that if you use search sites to click through to a particular website the original site can earn a commission? We want your charity to benefit from this. Blacksnow Internet Services owns www.thecharityshoppingsite.org and access to this is through your charity website by means of a link. This means that for every purchase supporters make your charity will receive commission. This can be as much as £40-70 for renewing their car insurance through the site. If a charity had 1,000 supporters and they could persuade a third of them to renew their home or car insurance through the site they could be looking at raising about £20,000 on that item alone. With our large range of shopping sites your supporters may even find a cheaper deal and this is at no cost to you or your supporters.
